Rimini, 21st February 2024 . In the current scenario, where the energy crisis has brought to light all the system´s fragilities, Power Purchase Agreements (PPSs) are proving to be a decisive tool for securing part of the supply. In 2023 alone, around half of Italy´s more than 2 GW of photovoltaic and wind power capacity was contracted under the almost 50 PPAs signed since 2019, and projects, mainly photovoltaic, for more than 13 GW have recently been authorised. The regions with the highest number of contracts signed are Lazio and Sicily and the first long-term contract signed in Italy by Google regards a 47 MW wind farm on the island.

In such a dynamic context and with Pexapark´s European PPA Market Outlook 2024 forecasting a growth in the sector in Europe this year of at least another 23% for over 20 GW of contracted power, KEY CHOICE - Unlock the future of PPA, KEY - The Energy Transition Expo´s B2B event organised by IEG - Italian Exhibition Group in collaboration with Elemens, is set to become a reference point on the subject of new Power Purchase Agreements in Italy.

KEY CHOICE - Unlock the future of PPA is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 27th February, at Rimini´s Palacongressi Conference Centre from 10 am to 6 pm on the eve of KEY - The Energy Transition Expo, which will be held from Wednesday 28th February to Friday 1st March at the Expo Centre. The event aims to promote the growth trend in PPA formalisation by offering an important opportunity for meeting, information and networking between supply and demand. Renewable energy producers, energy-intensive companies, traders, electricity sector institutions and financial institutions will be able to discuss the topic together with analysts, operators, consumers, legal and tax firms. Possible forms of agreement between supply and demand in the electricity market will be analysed, also in the light of new regulatory elements such as the energy release.

The day, divided into two main sessions, will, from 10.30 am to 1 pm, feature interaction between the parties with an agenda of meetings between energy producers, off takers, traders and energy-intensive companies that have registered for the event. Starting at 2 pm, a conference will take stock of the state of the art of PPAs, market size, demand, actors involved, contractual characteristics and structures, price drivers, tax aspects and future prospects with the presentation of several case histories.
