INNOVATION IN STAR ROLE AT KEY . THE ENERGY TRANSITION EXPO

• From 28th February to 1st March, the IEG - Italian Exhibition Group energy transition event will be the home of the energy of the future;
• In the new Innovation District, with four specific itineraries for exhibitors and innovative Start-ups and SMEs selected through a Call for Start-up&Scale-ups;
• Awarded for the first time, the ´Innovative Start-up´ Award and the Lorenzo Cagnoni Award for Innovation.



Rimini, 21st February 2024 . The future of energy must necessarily be increasingly green and sustainable, but there can be no progress without innovation. Latest generation technologies, innovative ideas, cutting-edge products and energy transition will meet at KEY - The Energy Transition Expo, the IEG - Italian Exhibition Group event of reference in Southern Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean basin, scheduled to take place at Rimini Expo Centre from 28th February to 1st March.

For the second edition of the event, in the Lorenzo Cagnoni Dome - Innovation Square, the Innovation District will be back with a new look occupying an even larger and enhanced area thanks to collaboration with ANGI (National Association of Young Innovators).
Four specific itineraries are planned for Italian and international innovative start-ups and SMEs, as well as the show´s exhibitors, to display their products and latest technologies in the renewable and energy transition sectors.

THE FOUR ITINERARIES
• The ´Innovation´ itinerary will be reserved for exhibitors presenting their latest ideas and most innovative products;
• The ´Start-up´ itinerary will be for young companies and innovators that have developed unique and cutting-edge solutions for energy transition;
• The ´Networking´ itinerary will feature an Agora for conferences and presentation pitches and areas for discussion and sharing in which to exchange ideas and promote new business;
• The ´Talk´ itinerary will be a corner for interviews in which to gather the experiences of the show´s most innovative companies and stakeholders.

The initiative is organised by Italian Exhibition Group SpA, in collaboration with ITA - Italian Trade Agency, ART-ER and FONDAZIONE MAI, and with ANGI as Main Partner.

THE CALL PER START-UP&SCALE-UPS
KEY confirms its role as an incubator, facilitator and platform of reference able to connect young companies and national and international green innovators with companies and investors with the aim of generating new projects and sustainable businesses.
In the Innovation District, innovative Start-ups and SMEs, selected by Italian Exhibition Group, ANGI, ART-ER and FONDAZIONE MAI through a Call for Start-Up&Scale-Ups, will have the chance to present their brand and solutions as part of the benchmark event for energy transition in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
The call attracted the interest of almost 60 innovative start-ups and SMEs engaged in energy transition. Among the 26 selected, 25 are Italian and one is German. The innovations they will be presenting at KEY involve the use of cutting-edge digital tools and technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data governing the areas of solar photovoltaics, energy storage, energy efficiency, green hydrogen, electric mobility with solutions to support the new Renewable Energy Communities, energy sharing, to make public lighting more efficient and manage the waste produced during revamping of renewable energy plants

AWARDS FOR INNOVATION
For the first time this year, two awards for innovation will be presented at KEY - The Energy Transition Expo:

• The ´Innovative Start-Up´ award for Start-ups and SMEs attending the show, selected through the Call for Start-Up&Scale-Ups, that have stood out due to their highly innovative projects for renewables and the energy transition.
• The Lorenzo Cagnoni Award for Innovation, in memory of IEG President Lorenzo Cagnoni, reserved for exhibitors.
The Lorenzo Cagnoni Award has collected about 30 innovative projects entries, submitted from each of KEY´s seven product areas: Solar, Wind, Hydrogen, Energy Efficiency, Sustainable City, Storage, and e-Mobility.
The proposed innovations include solutions based on Artificial Intelligence technologies, systems for monitoring biodiversity installed on renewable energy generation plants, innovative photovoltaic panels that are resistant to intense weather events, mounts that solve every installation problem, ultrafast charging systems to revolutionize motorways, and cutting-edge trackers and platforms that make matching between supply and demand and between start-ups and Public Administration easier. Not to mention services for new Renewable Energy Communities and public lighting optimisation, consulting services, innovative systems and facilities for hydrogen storage and production, wallboxes and solutions for electric charging and payments, solutions for monitoring consumption, improving efficiency and optimizing self-consumption.
The Lorenzo Cagnoni Award will be presented on Wednesday, 28th February at 5 pm in the Lorenzo Cagnoni Dome - Innovation Square.
